THE BEST OF WHAT'S AROUND

All US-bound shippings delayed

Hi there,

Due to terrorism threat, there is a ban on all individual air-borne parcels over 16 oz (ca. 450 g) bound to the U.S.A.

Edit 2: Japan Post service (SAL / EMS) is back on rolling! God knows why; but this is a relief. I am told that due to 'tightened security controls at the US border', it takes a tad longer to destination than it usually does.

Most books are way over the limit, so all US-bound shippings will have to wait. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience — all the more so as Christmas season is there — and am as annoyed as one could be. No comment.

On a brighter side, the 35-year anniversary exhibition of the Kimura Ihei Photo Award opened last week.

And you may come and see it, since you are not banned from shipping yourself to Japan from the US — cheaper than an airplane ticket, although a bit cramped and chilly. The problem would be on the way back.

Cheers,

Nick

Edit 1: After some reseach, we decided on Yamato Transport (priority airmail, traking number, insured up to 200.000 yens, about 1 week to destination) to fill the gap. Please note that addressee's Social Security number or Federal Tax ID is required.
